hiFur is a community designed by a furry, for the entire furry fandom!

For all intents and purposes, hiFur is better when the community pitches in! After all, a site for furries, should be entirely customisable by Any furry who feels like it!

So! Give us a paw! Lend us some of your talent - create something cool for hiFur!

For artists, this is a fantastic opportunity to get some real exposure to the furry fandom: We currently have over 7,000 visits per day: And we will give you appropriate and visible credit for your work wherever it appears!

For the geek-inclined furs, you may contribute actual application code to hiFur: We're in the process of open-sourcing our Top-level application framework, which allows any programmer to create complex, interactive AJAX applications with Javascript and JSON. This is the purrfect opportunity to get your paws on a real, working database with real data traffic, or, to create that really adictive game that every furry will love!

If you're an artist: You can lend us a paw by creating a banner, creating a new theme, or by creating a background:

1. Creating a banner takes only a few minutes! The only requirements are that it says 'hiFur.net' somewhere visible, and that it meets the dimensions of the hiFur banner area. This area has been designed wide and tall to allow real creativity in banners! To get started, download the Banner Creation Pack.
2. Creating a new theme is a fun, albeit time-consuming process. Just like our banners, the theme should contain 'hiFur.net' in the header. However, you may design your own logo to go with the theme. There's a few other requirements, there is a detailed how-to in the Theme Creation Pack
3. Backgrounds are accepted in Jpeg format. They must be 1920x1280 pixels in size, to accomodate even the largest screens available. Backgrounds offer you complete freedom of design. There is no download required. Just make sure your background is created as an 8-bit 1920x1280 image at 96 dpi.

If you're a programmer: Currently, the hiFur code is being prepared for open sourcing. Documentation for several components is being prepared. If you'd like to help with this task, or to get early access to the Frameworks, you may contact Luxchia for more information on svn access or snapshots.

Even if you're neither a programmer or an artist, you can still help us make hiFur the best furry social network: Use the features the network provides you! Post your own thoughts in your blog, or start a discussion with other furries in the forums. Post your artwork or your sketches, or comment on other's posts. If you have an idea for a new feature you'd like to see implemented, be sure to post it in the Feature Requests Forum! It might just be implemented!
