Does everyone have a specific and defined fursona? Or is it just that the only posts I've seen so far are by established furries? What I'm really getting at is that I don't know my fursona. I'm going to be very vague and say some species of canid. Maybe I'm overthinking things, but, well, I overthink things. Some people call it indecisive, some call it keeping your options open, I call it....being indecisive. ^^
In addition, anyone want to describe their fursona? |

I'm fairly sure a good portion of people are undecided in this matter. From what I can tell, a fursona isn't concrete. People either get a better idea of what their fursona should be or they get tired of what they have and change it later on. I myself have gone from having a fox fursona to a wolf one because the personality traits seemed to suit me better. I don't know if it'll change again, but I don't think I'm going to complain one way or the other. |

Dearc was created in the 90's.. not sure exactly when anymore.
6'4" anthro dragon
Characteristics: obvious in color, black, blue, purple. By description his hide/scales are rather soft and fragile, instead of heavy and thick.
Personality: Calm, calculated. Not a fighter, rather one to outwit. Very friendly, very protective of loved ones, and very giving to friends.
Markings: Dearc has runes on his body. The runes represent fallen family members. Each time a member has passed, a new rune is etched. By story line, Dearc's family/clan was massacered after finding a new area to claim. Additionally by story line, Dearc is former military. (Though I am active duty)
Randomness: Blue shine to his black scales. Smells like mint. O.o
Dearc has an entire storyline that has been developed over several years of our lives together.

I've always been a Dragon/wolf hybrid ^^. I've even created a history for my fursona, how he came about, how he got his "name" (The names Dragonwolf, just so you know ^^) He's always had an exlremely long tail just to help with having no opposable thumbs, though it does get in the way sometimes like it has a mind of its own. The only thing that changes is whats on the outside, like colouring, scars/markings. Nothing a little hair dye couldn't fix (except scaring ^^)

I like my current fursona, but I have several. There's Suki, which is Sitka's female version, and Lige the black liger, and Tommi the black wolf. I come up with new ones and switch a lot, but they all are good fursonas. :3

We all change as we mature, personas is just one more aspect of ourselves that grows, If you can't settle on one, maybe you're a shapeshifter =p We're all here for different reasons, and some take it more seriously than others.
Just don't force anything on yourself.
Ok i'm an android kitty, all shades of grey with pale green circuitry barely visible under the fur, you won't see me without goggles (in rl either).
Much like a cat I'm paranoid, I don't have very strong ties to anything but myself, but i'll stick around as long as the food and cuddles are good =p

My fursona is essentially a paralell copy of me, expcept he's an anthropomorphic, digitigradial Alsatian (German Shepherd). I've had him for only less than a year, but, I'm sure that I will stick with him. A description of him really isn't needed, except that he has the standard coat/colours, and brown hair and eyes.
I've only had one other fursona, and that was a calico cat, and I had that for only a few months.

hehe it does seem most people start out with something generic like a cat or fox, before settling on specifics, it feels like some natural growth of personality...

I prefer Cubone, but I'll use different fursonas if I feel like it. People are too complex to really be defined by an animal species and the traits associated with it, so I don't really bother. If it confuses people, that's too bad. :P |

It's been ~2 years for me and I've just now settled on a fursona. Who knows, it may change again. I've just never found something that I was comfortable with until now, haha.
Even so, I'm polymorphic to kinda ease on my urges to change into another species... because even though I've chosen a 'sona, I'm no doubt going to want to be something else too, hehe. |

My fursona is a white siberian tiger and I haven't really changed it since I became a furry and joined the fandom when I was 18 (2004).
The only thing that really changes is my markings, which I am currently unsure about.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy where I am in regards to my fursona. There doesn't seem to be any need for me to add extra bits of other species. I'd rather have one species as my fursona, rather than be a hybrid.
But that's just my opinion :). |

I have 2 sona's one as a dragon and the other a wolf. My dragon sona can change its size to as small as a peanut and up to 1.5x of its original size. Red with a yellow underbelly and yellow wing membrane. Grows fur in the colder seasons. Black horns with a white ring around each horn, as well as black rings around its wrists and ankles as well on the muzzle with a few other details too such as a glow in the dark maw. Dragon is known as Henkou.
My wolf sona is a black/gray with a white chest and the white follows down to its belly all the way down on the back of the legs to the bottom of the feet. Red hair, blue eyes and blue paw pads. Has an orange maw and some red stripes and markings on the body as well. :3
There is a bit more detail but thats the jist of it. :3

I wanted to come into the fandom with a bang and chose to go with the only animal I ever had a fascination for, which was the giant squid. I like it because it is extremely unusuall and stands out amongst the sea of wolves, foxes, dragons, etc. Squid aren't all that detailed in their bodies so the best description is a 40 foot long, maroon colored squid with tentacles that are longer than the main body. I can't say that this animal has really attained the status of a character yet, I just use it to represent myself at the moment. Perhaps I'll follow the example of others and design a full character from another species, or just use the squid again.
Sincerely,
Ryan Fullmer

I'm pretty well-settled on my fursona. Sometimes she changes things, because she changes with me. I make other characters, but she's my main one.
She's basically about 6', with tan fur. Her eyes are green, and she's really slender, and her mask is dark brown like her hands, feet, wrists, and her ankles. Her muzzle is the same color, and so are her ears. She's got black hair, and she parts a longer side-bang to the left over that eye. In the back, it's cut shorter, and she spikes it out. She likes to wear arm warmers, leg warmers, fingerless gloves, knee-high socks, leg length socks, and all those types of accessories. She wears comfortable clothes with friends, like PJ/lounge pants and loose shirts. In public and at school, she wears tight-fitting T-shirts and jeans, mostly skinnies.
Overall, she's pretty much who I'm decided on. Like I said, there are other characters, and they're secondaries, but this is my primary one. ^^ |

I've come to the conclusion that fursona's generally change as a person matures. Mine originally started out as a white fox I called Lucrece (I believe she was created around age 15 or so), who then evolved into a fox/snow leopard hybrid a year or two later. Around 3-4 years ago I had a complete change to a red-furred Norway Rat I named Akai. Over the past year this has shifted to a creature I created for a bit of science fiction writing I've been working on. The species currently has no name but is similar to the jerboa. A name change has once again accompanied this as a signifier of more positive changes in my attitude and (hopefully) life as well. As much as I'd like to be able to settle on one specific animal, as different things change for me, I feel more or less close to different aspects of different creatures and they always find their way into the design and development of my fursona. |
