So.... I've heard from a few people that the little joke I play of calling new members "Cubs" is not liked by everyone (:P)

To be honest, I have no idea what to call it, then! So... here's a few choices! You guys decide! :3

I am by all means still a cub, as in I have a lot to learn yet.

I am the one known as the Gnome, or Gnomish Tiger.  No, I am not that short.

Fresh Fluff sounds good to me, it also indicated that they might be older [ cub is not really good for that ] but new to the site.

So, my vote goes to Fresh Fluff.

-Personally, I think one of the reasons I excitedly signed up for this site was the idea that I'd start out as a Cub (although, I'd be technically a Kit, but I'm not going to argue semantics at this point). Mind you, I like the site either way, but I think a Fur name is far better than some generic term like "New Members", as if we were mere Humans trying to be Furs. I think more Furs should learn to relax and enjoy the commune between Nature and fellow Furs rather than complain about something that seems relatively trivial. After all, if they are complaining about Cubs, they'd complain about Fledglings (oh, what, we're Birds now?!), Acolytes (we're not Furs, but Fantasy Role Players that would rather be grounded in Fantasy than Furdom?), or pretty much any other name that implies "new-ness"... You can't even call someone a "Newbie" because that would be "offensive" to some (and I would be annoyed, because that's just a completely over-used term anyways).

Now, I don't personally care if you change it from Cubs to something else, and I won't leave just because you did change it-- after all, it's One Single Word on the site. One Single Word. Change it if you must, but I would think that most of us won't be offended by being a Cub, and you can't please everyfur, so why not go for what most people enjoy? I'm sorry if it appears that I don't care, but the sad truth is you can't please everyfur all the time. It's just not possible. Please as many as you can, sure, but those precious few furs without enough fur, scales, or feathers on their back to ignore One Single Word should probably not even bother being a member on here.

- I understand the rant... Actually. And I agree with you. It's not something which poses a big deal. But granted, since it's not a big deal, I don't mind asking this in a poll. And asking everyone their opinion. After all, I'm not going out and pleasing the ones who are offended by being called Cubs, also, I'm not trying to offend those who don't care and like the cubs name.

I believe the best solution to the problem (small or large as it may be), is simply to ask the community for their opinion. And so, we return to the poll thing. Where everyone can equally express what they want that tab to be named. :3 It's not about giving in to every last complaint. That's something which has already happened. I got someone a while ago who wanted me (actually, he demanded me) to get rid of the "wrong" genders. He said herm and shemale were "disgusting" and "wrong". Now, this, was by all means, a big deal for him, but a misnomer for me. I asked him to leave, deleted his account. And that's that. No coercion, no argument, no polls, and certainly, as little drama as possible. The tab, on the other end of things... i have no problem with renaming. :3
